Cullers family

Members of the Cullers family got together at Woodward park to take advantage of the fall color for a photo session. The day after Thanksgiving worked out pretty good for these folks who were together for the holiday anyway.

Engagement photography at Woodward Park

This is Megan and Ryan. They are freshly engaged and asked me to photograph them at Woodward Park so that they can send photos to friends and family as a “save the date” announcement for a wedding next year back home on the east coast. It was a pleasure shooting them as their energy showed in every shot.

See the jump for a slideshow.

Shoe fixer

This is Pete Hodian of Pete’s Shoe Repair, an old-style cobbler who uses equipment that are dated beyond his own 80 years. Although business isn’t as good as it used to be, Pete still enjoys the occasional patron who comes in for a new heel or sole. His favorite part of the day may be when his buddies, Al, Jack and Morrie come by to talk about the day’s news. It keeps his life busy and his spirits up. This photo was one of the outtakes in the printed version in The Bee, but be sure to read Diana Marcum’s great story on Pete. For more of Diana’s work check out her Edge of Town series. There’s also an accompanying video I did for fresnobee.com.

This picture ran on the cover of Sports in The Bee. The first half was flat-out awful so I’m glad we were able to wait for late game stuff.

Kai

This is Kai, a cute little girl who I photographed in a portrait session last weekend. She had the Audrey Hepburn thing going pretty good and we did a number of references to old photos of the famous Hollywood star. Can’t help but start humming ‘Moon River’ while working on these photos.
