This photo shows Ariana Sanchez of Our Lady of Miracle in Gustine as she poses as Our Lady of Guadalupe in the annual Virgin of Guadalupe procession through downtown Fresno last December. After several weeks I finally found out this was the photo that placed first in the Division II features category in the California Newspaper Publishers Association annual contest. I knew it was between this one and a photo of geese crossing a double-yellow line in Woodward Park because those were the only two I entered. The geese one won an honorable mention.
