Dog day afternoon

MTD CEK DOG SHOWSpent the afternoon shooting dogs and their owners to preview an upcoming dog show in The Bee’s “7.” Dogs are fun, but they are like kids in that they really don’t care about having their pictures taken. The big challenge is squeaking a toy with one hand and focusing and shooting with the other.

Weekend getaway

I haven’t had a whole lot to post lately so I’ll share this shot of my lovely wife Donna enjoying the amazing spring-like weather we experienced on our 18th wedding anniversary weekend getaway in the Napa Valley over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Here we stopped at the Franciscan winery for a few sips and pics. I love visiting the region, but this past weekend was especially perfect because of the unbelievable weather.

Downtown wedding

veilcoupleloupeLast weekend I got the opportunity to hang out with fellow shooter Steve Skibbie of Grand Design Photography as a second shooter for the wedding of Christina and Tyler at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Fresno. It’s a very cool old church I’ve been to for assignments for The Bee but never shot a wedding there before. The pretty light coming through the big stained glass windows was nice element to take advantage of and the surrounding area lended itself to some complimentary photos of the couple and the wedding party. While it was a bit chilly that day, the overcast light was a welcome change to the usual harsh Fresno sunlight. I learned a lot from watching Steve at work too.

Newborn session

newborn baby portrait session in FresnoThis little guy is only three weeks old and was part of a family portrait session I did in Fresno over the New Year holiday weekend. I hadn’t done too many newborns yet, other than when my own were born, so it was kind of fun to do something a little different.
