Laura and Sean

joseph-1487Last weekend I helped out Steve Skibbie from Grand Design Photography on a wedding for Laura and Sean who were married at the Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church in Oakhurst. We kept looking at each other and remarking how beautiful the sky was and what perfect light we had. There was some threat of rain, which did arrive later, but for the most part, it was picture perfect photo-making.

My thanks again to Steve for thinking of me again to help out.

See the jump for more photos.

Historic Courthouse Wedding

Merced County Courthouse Wedding

Last January I had the pleasure of photographing Chris and Emma in an engagement session, only they weren’t engaged. Chris gave the session to Emma as a Christmas gift. I thought it was a great idea and spent a couple of hours with them making lots of nice photos. Well, that engagement session that really wasn’t an engagement session turned out to be an engagement session. Last week Chris contacted me to let me know that he and Emma were getting married — on Friday! It was a last-minute wedding to be held at the Historic Merced County Courthouse. I was available and open to shooting the service and quickly accepted. They are a great couple and a joy to photograph. Thanks for the opportunity.

More photos after the jump.

Grizz Air

Sunday at The Bee is rarely slow, but this past Sunday had me out hunting for a feature package for the Local page. A sign in front of Fresno’s Woodward Park peaked my interest so I drove over to the relatively new Woodward Park Mountain Bike Skills Progression Course. There I found folks, young and old, enjoying the fabulous weather and an incredible MTB trail course. I staked out one ramp and tracked one rider as he performed a Grizz Air trick. I had heard of the course but never seen it up close. You can’t even see it from the road that goes around the park, but it is 10 acres in size and varied with many jumps and obstacle skills courses. It’s got me thinking again of getting a mountain bike for sure. There’s nothing like this anywhere around here and maybe even the state. See http://woodwardmtbpark.com/Woodward.html for more details.

Scholastic News

scholasticloupe
Back in January I posted a photo that I shot for Scholastic News of a teenager gone from gangs to green. Juan Hernandez left the street gang lifestyle to instead fight against environmental injustice. Although the article doesn’t run until Earth Day, I did get some pdf proofs of the pages with Juan’s story, and my photos. I also have these images on my photography business website.
