Jon & Jamie: Engaged

engagement photos in Fresno and Centerville, CA
We started Jon and Jamie’s engagement photos in downtown Fresno for some urban landscapes and then shot out east on 180 to Centerville where we found some interesting backdrops, oaks, blossoms and a very cool sunset. Turned out to be a great shoot. Be looking for their wedding photos coming up in May.

Awesome. Love the first shot!

Josh & Jackie: January wedding

Josh and Jackie’s wedding day started out a little foggy but turned into a beautiful day by the time of their reception at the Banker’s Ballroom in downtown Fresno. Services were held at Central Valley Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Fresno where a huge wedding party began getting ready. The church was eventually packed as it was standing room only to witness the vows for the special couple. Music became the theme as both Josh and Jackie are passionate musicians and a number of songs were performed throughout the day. A Filipino dance was performed in the beautiful light at the Banker’s Ballroom and a mini-concert of lovely songs was conducted by a multitude of talented artists. Josh and Jackie’s wedding was one for the ages.

What a great wedding! I love the fog, I LOVE the fact that they sing and play an instrument and I LOVE that they look like they love each other. Great work on capturing so many great moments in such a photojournalist way.

Great shots in a beautiful setting! Awesome work!

Josh & Jackie: Engaged

Josh and Jackie approached me about their wedding just a few days ago. They were looking for a quick turnaround as their wedding was to be in only three weeks – AND they needed an engagement session with a guest signature book. To work we went and shot their engagement session at their church – Central Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church in Fresno – and quickly produced these images. Won’t be long and you’ll see some of their wedding images posted here too. Josh and Jackie are musicians and met on a church trip. Their wedding promises to be a memorable one as I’m told their wedding party will include 42 bridesmaids and groomsmen. YIKES!! Tune back soon to see how everything turned out!

Hey, great article! As a photographer in family portraits, in the San Francisco bay area, I will use some of this in my marketing. Thank you!

Craig man, I love this image! you captured it great, their attitude simply fits the pose. Well done!

Clay Toporski - March 5, 2011 - 2:23 pm

The great American portrait. Love it! I would have never thought to do some of the creative posing and portrait work in the church the way you did. I am sure the couple loves their photos. Wonderful job!

Rebecca - January 19, 2011 - 6:14 pm

Great image. I look forward to seeing the wedding photos

Meredith & Tom: Engaged

My first engagement session of the new year was out in the wine country of Paso Robles. Meredith and Tom live in Pennsylvania but Meredith is from out here, so they are getting married at Wolf Lakes in July. They enjoy tasting wine together so I suggested stopping by a couple of wineries in Paso and using their beautiful architecture and landscaping for their engagement shoot. We had a great time and barely escaped the drenching rains. Tom and Meredith are a very fun couple to hang out with and now I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in July.

Love that you captured so much variety. Both in the images and in their personality. I especially like the barrel room images. Good work.

Bill Davis - Peoria Wedding Photographer - January 6, 2011 - 12:37 pm

What a great way to spend the day. Great couple, great locations and a great photographer. The wine cellar photographs are especially great.

Forbes family fall portraits

Just finished post on a set from a fall portrait session with the Forbes family at Woodward Park. They were a really cool bunch. They even brought along bubbles, a football and hula hoops to mix in and create ample photo ops. I don’t get to do these too often but they sure are a lot fun. I hope they enjoy their photos as much as I did making them. Check out more pics after the jump.

Now, that’s a beautiful family shot! I looove the colors in the background. I bet this family must be happy with such a picture. Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing.

Keri & Chris: Married

Loved hanging out with Keri and Chris for their big wedding at the Holiday Inn in downtown Fresno last month. I knew it was going to be a great day after having such a good time shooting their engagement session. They are such a great couple couple to shoot. Both really nice people and very accommodating for my occasional unique request: like when I asked them to stand out in the middle of Van Ness Avenue for a couple of portraits. Downtown was such a cool place to be too. So many options for portraits – and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer day. A real classic.

David Archuleta performs in Clovis

David Archuleta

American Idol runner-up David Archuleta performs in Clovis, CA

Okay, so this is kind of a cheap attempt to get a little more traffic to my site, but I couldn’t resist. When I tweeted an iPhone photo of the crowd waiting to see David Archuleta at Sierra Vista Mall I got about 10 RT’s in five minutes. So I sent another and then worked up a photo gallery of the American Idol runner-up for the Fresno Bee Photography gallery site. I posted that link on the Bee photo Facebook page and shared it with David Archuleta’s page and Sierra Vista Mall. Of course I also plugged sponsor Y101. So I think I hit all the good search keywords here so I’ll probably get a few hits from fans wanting to see more of the photos. Did I mention I am a wedding photographer in Fresno? And oh yeah, I am also a commercial photographer in Fresno too!

Barbara and Marty: Married

Barbara and Marty were married in a special service at Henderson Park in Snelling, Ca overlooking the Merced River. Their ceremony was performed in the Native American tradition rich in cultural and family customs. Family members gathered in a circle around Barbara and Marty to provide their support and blessings. Afterward the guests kicked off some good old fashion American fun with a fantastic party that celebrated the nuptials of the longtime friends. And as if that wasn’t enough entertainment, there was even belly dancer on hand. Barbara is amazing. She practically made everything for the wedding and the reception herself. Good thing for me that she couldn’t take her own photos!

Beautiful fall colors, nice chemistry between the couple

Great colors! I adore her dress and just marvel at how you do the flash and lighting at receptions. Great job!

WOW! Fantastic color and what a dress! I love that opening shot!

Beautiful photography! I love the fall colors, the details and the masks! Great work.

Theater: “And Then There Were None”

I haven’t had a chance to do much theater photography lately but I did get a chance on Friday when I was asked to do photos for Clovis High’s production of the Agatha Christie mystery “And Then There Were None.” Instead of one portrait, as I’ve done in the past, I photographed the whole cast in character. I also did a few live action shots of their first dress rehearsal. So why do it on my day off from the Bee? Well, my son Randy coaxed me a bit. He plays Dr. Edward George Armstrong and is pictured above. To see the show, it runs October 13-16 at the Mercedes Edwards Theater in Clovis. These photos will be up in the lobby.

I brought my own lights in for the main and hair light. The rest is just available stage light for color.

Very cool. Did you bring in your own lights, or are those the stage lights? Either way, very dramatic!

Sheena & Roy: Our Lady of Victory wedding

I did Sheena and Roy’s engagement session back in May. That’s the one where we crossed town several times between Woodward Park, Grace Christian Preschool and Blackbeards. Well the wedding got us out and about town too as we went from getting ready at the Piccadilly Inn – University to Our Lady of Victory church, out to Woodward for some fun pix and then back to the Piccadilly. It was all good and I had a great time meeting Roy and Sheena’s friends and family. I especially liked some of the creative dancing. The couple and their friends really put on a show. Another great wedding shoot in Fresno.

Really looks like they had a good time. You captured it well.

Wolf Lakes wedding: Angela & Josh

Finally got to shoot a wedding at Wolf Lakes Park in Clovis…well, technically Sanger. In my opinion there’s not a better location in the Fresno/Clovis area to have a wedding that this place. And there wasn’t a more beautiful couple to photograph there than my new friends, Angela and Josh. They’ve been very special clients to me and I’ve loved being a part of their big day as well as getting a warm reception from their families. Although it was late August we enjoyed very mild temperatures which helped the day go on without a hitch and provided plenty of incentive for the party to continue on into the night.

I’ve got a few of my favorite images posted below and even more in the slideshow at the bottom.

Oh my gosh, that first photo! So much emotion captured. Beautiful set!

Beautiful wedding photos! Love all the vibrant colours in this wedding – the bridesmaids dresses, the bouquets, the ribbons. My favourite is the one of the bride giving the thumbs up. Too cute. :)

Cheers from Vancouver BC! :)

Awesome reception images. A lot of joy there

What a gorgeous couple. They are HOT!!!!!. And a beautiful set of images. You have done them proud.

STELLAR as always! wonderful storytelling.

Tiffani & Jordan: Truth Tabernacle wedding

Tiffani and Jordan were married in front of hundreds at Truth Tabernacle Church in Fresno where Pastor Vaughn Morton lightened things up a bit with a few jokes. Tiffani, who happens to be the daughter of my colleague John Mincks at the Fresno Bee, was very relaxed as I watched her get her hair done at the Church. Jordan also seemed very much at ease – even after draining a Monster energy drink. All in all, it was a fun time watching the day unfold. Great food and a yummy dessert capped off the afternoon as the newlyweds departed for their honeymoon in San Francisco. Here are a few of my favorite images from the day:

I have to admit the photo has too much grain for me but I assume the light must have been not so good.

Daena & Chris: Dinkey Creek wedding

I some pretty interesting weddings – and I’m so grateful to my clients for that! – but I don’t think I’ve seen one more interesting that Chris and Daena’s wedding held at the Dinkey Creek campgrounds. These two really knew how to throw a party. They reserved the entire lower loop for all their family and guests and they stressed a very casual attire for the wedding. In fact, they demanded I not get dressed up to shoot their wedding. They said wear shorts (!). Who was I to argue? OK. I had a great time shooting their wedding because it was so low key, casual and, well, fun. The location was absolutely beautiful. I wish I could do all my weddings in a setting like this. I really appreciate Chris and Daena for their generosity and hospitality.

This photograph is wonderful! I love casual weddings. So stressless. She’s so pretty in this picture and they make such a cute couple. I don’t know if we have a setting like that here, in Delaware. But, I’m going to make it my mission to find one. My children would love to camp at this campground. I love your work. Your a talented photographer.

What a great low key wedding! What a fun couple. You captured the day well (in your summer shorts and all!)

Dave & Kerry: married on the ranch

Had the best time at Dave and Kerry’s wedding last month. How could I not ? It was held at the Running P Ranch in Woodlake. Running Pee? Really? That’s awesome. And everybody there enjoyed it just as much as I did. So what if I had to dodge a little horse poop here and there to get great shots of the lovely couple. It was worth it. We had whatcha call a down home, knee-slappin’ good time. Dave and Kerry – thank you so much for the opportunity. I loved it!

You never disappoint. Beautiful as always.

Angela and Dean: Married

I was honored by Angela and Dean who gave me the opportunity to photograph their wedding at Ridge Creek Golf Course where they invited an intimate gathering of family to witness their Indonesian wedding in the Muslim tradition. It was really cool to watch. Later, the bride and groom changed into more Americanized wedding wear to celebrate with their friends as well as more extended family members. It was really a great time and a pleasure to capture the emotions and fun that went along with the day. It was also nice to shoot a wedding alongside fellow shooter Glenn Schafer who did video.
