Jeanne’s 50th birthday party

My friend Jeanne Logan asked me to shoot her 50th birthday party a couple of weeks ago and I jumped all over it. I figured anything with with Jeanne and her husband Bobby Logan is going to be a good time. I met Jeanne a few years ago when I photographed her home town of “Cookseyville.” Check out the audio slide show I did for The Bee. The Logans are very musical and very fun. There was a Roaring 20′s theme and a great venue atop a hill in Dinuba with a great view of the Valley. I was happy to be there to capture her milestone birthday (I’m not too far behind you Jeanne). Ultimate flash

During last week’s lightning storm I took my 5D outside to try and capture a bolt or two. In the top photo I was able to get a little lightning action and then in the second photo the flash of light was so bright, for a split second our street was lit up like the sun. The light was far greater than what I was exposing for giving that daylight look.

Weekend getaway

I haven’t had a whole lot to post lately so I’ll share this shot of my lovely wife Donna enjoying the amazing spring-like weather we experienced on our 18th wedding anniversary weekend getaway in the Napa Valley over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Here we stopped at the Franciscan winery for a few sips and pics. I love visiting the region, but this past weekend was especially perfect because of the unbelievable weather.

On my way to an assignment in the Pacific Towers building in downtown Fresno, I noticed the elevator dial on the old building once known at the Security Bank Building in the Fulton Mall. Coming back down the elevator I turned and shot a few pics. The 1920s detail struck me as an elegant reflection of past days in the city. It reminded me of visiting San Francisco as a kid and seeing such attention to detail everywhere you look.
